QuiltLadder Finishes...

No finish QuiltLadders, both assembled and in kit form, are available unfinished. In this form, all wood is sanded with 120 grit or finer sandpaper, but no finish is applied. Keep in mind that the grain may raise a little on bare wood...so the QuiltLadder may need some re-sanding prior to your application of finish.
Sanding Sealer Only Same as the above except that a clear coat of sanding sealer has been applied over the bare wood so as to help prevent grain-raising due to humidity/moisture.
Danish Oil A clear or tinted Danish Oil finish is applied. We use Watco oil. Click the link below to browse to the Watco website to see which colors of oil are available. Please note that we can apply a coat of Watco-compatible wax; however, this is expensive due to the time it takes to apply and wipe-off. We recommend that you apply the wax. The wax is available directly from us as well as well-supplied hardware and wood-working stores.
Unfilled Polyurethane (Satin or Gloss) over clear/tinted stain, Danish Oil, or bare wood. At least two coats of a clear, high quality polyurethane applied. Since the wood is unfilled, the natural grain will still be evident on the surface of the polyurethane. Note that the finish will partially fill the grain on open-grained woods.
Filled Polyurethane (Satin or Gloss) over clear/tinted stain, Danish Oil, or bare wood. Same as the above except a filler has been applied to the wood prior to application of polyurethane. This makes for a very smooth finish on open-grained woods as the pre-application of filler will fill the grain/pores of wood. On close-grained woods such as Maple, filling is not usually necessary in order to get a smooth finish.
