Custom Machine Quilting by Nan Kelley

Garden Mountain Threadworks has been an Idaho LLC (Limited Liability Company) since the summer of 2002.  Nan has had an interest in sewing, textiles, and quilting for many years.  These interests gave rise to the purchase of the necessary equipment and the current GMT enterprise. 

This enterprise also includes me, the machine quilter's husband, who plays the role of webmaster, "quilt preparation specialist", software developer, accountant, woodworker, and janitor. While Nan does the bulk of the machine quilting, I am involved in designing/making quilt racks (see the QuiltLadder™ page on this site) as well as other endeavors in the machine quilting world (stay tuned).

As you might expect, initial clients were "friends and family".  However, this has changed quite a bit over GMT's short history in that most customers are now "word of mouth" referrals.

One unexpected aspect of GMT is the "mail order biz" where quilters from other geographical areas ship their piecework (and sometimes batting) to us and we do the machine quilting.

Outside of the quilting realm, Nan has had a long career as a Business Systems Analyst with several, well-known "high tech" companies.  Nan has a BS in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University.

GMT's physical location is in the city of Boise, Idaho.  Garden Mountain is located in the Garden Valley area of Boise County, Idaho, about 50 miles north of the city of Boise. The mountain is situated between the Main and Middle forks of the Payette River with the South Fork flowing at the mountains's southern base.  The Payette River offers some of the best "white water" rafting in the lower 48!.
